Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Honoring Latino Excellence and Innovation in Technology

As we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate not only our vibrant culture, history, and traditions but also the incredible contributions of Latinos to every industry across the globe. This month, we at Silicon Valley Latino shine a spotlight on the exceptional Latino leaders, creatives, and change-makers whose stories of success and resilience continue to inspire us all.

I am honored to be part of this dynamic community as a proud Peruvian American, a member of the HITEC 100, and a CIO in the healthcare sector. In an industry where only 8% of the tech workforce identifies as Hispanic, we must acknowledge the significant underrepresentation of Latinos in technology and take action to change this narrative. Our community is full of talented, driven individuals who have made remarkable strides in business, art, technology, and more, and it is time for the world to see the depth and breadth of our impact.

At Mt. San Rafael Hospital, I have the privilege of leading a team that embraces innovation to enhance healthcare delivery and outcomes. I am inspired daily by the diverse perspectives that drive our success. In technology, diversity isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a necessity for progress. Latinos bring unique insights, problem-solving skills, and cultural richness to the table, and our collective strength will continue to power the future of this country and beyond.

In 2023, I was honored to receive the HITEC 100 Award, joining an elite group of Hispanic leaders who are making transformative impacts across global industries. The award represents not just individual achievement but a collective victory for the Hispanic community in technology. It is also inspiring to note that nearly half of this year’s recipients are Latinas, which highlights the growing influence and presence of Latina leaders in tech. Together, we are challenging norms, pushing boundaries, and paving the way for future generations.

As we celebrate this month, I encourage all of us to reflect on the stories of perseverance, innovation, and excellence within our Latino community. Let us continue to support and uplift each other as we break barriers, create opportunities, and inspire the next generation of Latino tech leaders.

Together (#JuntosAdelante), we can make lasting change. ¡Con Puro Corazón!
