LinkedIn Hosts the 6th Annual Lean In Latinas Take Charge Conference

On Friday, August 9, 2024, the LinkedIn headquarters in Mountain View, California buzzed with energy as over 270 Latinas and allies gathered for the 6th Lean In Latinas Take Charge Conference. This year’s event continued to champion the mission of Lean In Latinas: closing the Latina pay equity gap and advancing Latina leadership in corporate America.

According to a report by McKinsey and LeanIn.org, Latinas earn just 47 cents for every dollar made by the average white male and represent only 1% of corporate executives and 4% of corporate managers. Lean In Latinas is dedicated to changing these numbers through mentoring, networking, education, and community-building to support Latina advancement.

The Take Charge Conference featured powerful keynote addresses from Martha Niño and Chelsea De Jesus, who shared their compelling life stories, challenges, and triumphs with a captivated audience.

The morning panel discussion, “Breaking the Mold,” explored the importance of authenticity as a cornerstone of success. Panelists Ramona Robles, Jessica DeAnda, Stephanie Olano, and JoAnna Ordoñez offered inspiring advice and personal experiences to motivate attendees.

In the afternoon, the “Effective Salary Negotiations” panel provided actionable strategies for securing higher pay. Lean In Latinas founder Anna Dapelo-Garcia was joined by career experts Diana Bernal, Yvette Durazo, and Yanira Guzman in a conversation that covered everything from mindset to negotiation tactics.

Participants also engaged in breakout sessions, including “Rock Your LinkedIn Profile” by Dr. Kelly Alvarado-Young, “Confianza in Leadership” with Leena Mendoza, and “Living Your Worth: Confidence Through Identity and Belonging” with Dr. Emma Pineda-Fortin.

Throughout the day, MC L. Autumn King of the Oakland Museum and Event Energizer Myriam Martinez kept the crowd lively and engaged, making the 6th Lean In Latinas Take Charge Conference a resounding success.

Lean In Latinas is thankful to conference sponsors: Pacific Oaks College, Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, Stanford Health Care, Google, Bank of America, Kaiser Permanente, We Heart Marketing, Carmen Rosas Law, Lean In, LinkedIn, Ridgemont Hospitality, Talent & Genius, Tico Coffee Roasters, Water Tech Incorporated, Crafty Chica and Strategenius.
