At Silicon Valley Latino, we believe that investing in students is investing in the future of our community. When organizations step forward to remove barriers and expand access to education, they are not simply awarding scholarships — they are shaping leaders, strengthening families, and building generational impact.
We are proud to highlight the work of the Rosales Sisters Scholarship and their continued commitment to first-generation and immigrant students across the Bay Area and Central Coast. Below is a look back at their impact and a preview of what’s ahead in 2026.
“Education has the power to transform lives, open doors, and shape the future of entire communities. At the heart of that belief is Rosales Sisters Scholarship (RSS)—a nonprofit organization founded in 2019 by the six daughters of Abel and Maria Rosales, two immigrants from Zacatecas, Mexico, who instilled in their family a deep belief in education, hard work, and community.
Based in Oakland, California, RSS supports first-generation and immigrant high school students across the Bay Area and Central Coast as they take their next steps toward higher education. Each year, RSS brings together students, families, educators, community leaders, and supporters to celebrate achievement, resilience, and generosity. In 2026, that celebration continues with the highly anticipated Rosales Sisters Scholarship Gala, a signature fundraising event that directly fuels opportunity for deserving students.
The Mission of the Rosales Sisters Scholarship
The Rosales Sisters Scholarship was founded on a simple but powerful idea: talented, hardworking students should never be held back by financial barriers. RSS identifies high school seniors who demonstrate academic promise, leadership, and commitment to their communities, and provides meaningful financial assistance as they pursue college, vocational programs, or other post-secondary pathways.
Beyond financial support, the scholarship represents encouragement, belief, and recognition. For many recipients, being selected as an RSS Scholar is a defining moment—one that validates their efforts and reminds them that their community stands behind them.
To date, RSS has raised over $160,000 and awarded unrestricted funds to 60 students, allowing recipients the flexibility to use the support where it is most needed—whether for tuition, books, housing, or essential living expenses.
Honoring the Scholars: Real Impact, Real Stories
Each year, Rosales Sisters Scholarship recipients embody perseverance and hope. Many balance academics with part-time work, family responsibilities, and community involvement. Some are first-generation college students; others are trailblazers in their families.
Past recipients have gone on to attend colleges and universities across California and beyond, pursuing degrees in education, healthcare, engineering, business, social services, and more. The scholarship funds relieve financial stress and allow students to focus on learning and growth.
At the Gala, attendees hear directly from these scholars. Their stories are often the most powerful moments of the evening—reminding everyone in the room why this work matters. Each scholarship awarded is a tangible reminder that generosity changes lives.
A Look Back: The Power of Community Support
The 5th Annual Rosales Sisters Scholarship Gala, held on April 26, 2025, at Stonebrae Country Club in Hayward, California, was a remarkable success. Approximately 200 attendees gathered in support of education and opportunity, and the event raised an impressive $75,000 to directly fund scholarships for deserving students.
In addition to the Gala, a private screening of CAMPESINOS: America's Unsung Heroes served as a powerful fundraiser for the Class of 2025. The event raised $14,000, clearing $10,000 in net proceeds that directly supported scholarship recipients.
Silicon Valley Latino was honored to support this screening fundraiser, and through The SVL Agency, we were delighted to produce the Gala highlight reel—capturing the energy, generosity, and impact of the evening.
Together, these efforts demonstrate what is possible when storytelling, community, and philanthropy intersect with purpose.
The 2026 Gala: An Evening with Purpose
Building on that momentum, the 2026 Rosales Sisters Scholarship Gala promises to be an unforgettable evening of inspiration and impact. More than a formal event, the Gala is a celebration of fashion, scholars, and cultura—a space where generosity meets purpose and every contribution makes a difference.
Guests can expect:
Every ticket purchased and every dollar donated expands the reach of the Rosales Sisters Scholarship. Funds raised go directly toward scholarships and program support, ensuring RSS can continue to grow and serve future generations of students.
Why Your Support Matters
As education costs rise and families face increasing financial pressure, the need for scholarship support continues to grow. For many students, even modest financial assistance can be the difference between attending college or postponing their dreams.
Participation comes in many forms. Attending the Gala is a powerful way to show support, but contributions extend beyond the event. Donations—large or small—help sustain and expand programs. Sponsorships provide vital funding while demonstrating a commitment to education and community development.
A Call to Attend, Give, and Get Involved
The Rosales Sisters Scholarship Gala is more than a fundraiser—it is a statement of belief in the next generation. It is an opportunity to celebrate students who are working hard to build brighter futures and to stand alongside them as they take their next steps.
As RSS looks ahead to 2026, the organization invites the community to be part of this meaningful evening. Attend the Gala. Bring a friend. Become a sponsor. Every action, no matter the size, helps create pathways to education and opportunity.
Together, we can ensure that deserving students are not limited by circumstance—but empowered by financial support, access, and a community that believes in them.”

In moments of fear and uncertainty, Ayudando Latinos A Soñar (ALAS) is leading with love and action—providing mental health support, emergency relief, and hope to families and educators impacted by immigration raids. This is what community-centered leadership looks like when it matters most.
When policies threaten California’s coastline and frontline communities, Latina leadership steps forward. This month, Marcela Gutiérrez-Graudiņš and the team at Azul led a powerful call to reject offshore drilling—framing it for what it is: environmental injustice that puts communities of color at risk. Their work reminds us that protecting our environment means protecting our people.
