We don't just celebrate Latino excellence after the fact or during just one designated month. We track it, we show up for it, and we make sure it doesn't go unnoticed, because representation in leadership doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decides to be the first, and a community decides to make sure the world knows her name.
This is one of those moments.
It's official.
Griselda Gonzalez has been installed as Chairwoman of the California Moving & Storage Association. The first immigrant Latina and only the sixth woman to hold the position in the association's 108-year history.
The installation took place this past month of May at CMSA's 108th Annual Convention in Rancho Mirage, where movers, storage professionals, and industry leaders from across California gathered to talk about what comes next for the industry, rising operational costs, labor shortages, consumer protection, and the growing demand for professional relocation services statewide.

Her installation lands during National Moving Month, the industry's busiest season and a moment built around educating consumers on choosing licensed, insured, reputable movers. Fitting timing for a leader who has spent her career building exactly that kind of trust.
"Moving is about more than transporting boxes. We help families and businesses through major life transitions every day," Gonzalez said. "I'm proud to help lead an industry focused on professionalism, trust, and protecting consumers."
That sentence is Griselda in full. Not chasing a title. Carrying a responsibility.
As CFO and Co-Owner of CG Moving Company, she has helped build a company that has served Bay Area families, businesses, and government agencies for more than 20 years with headquartered in the South San Francisco and Colma area, with warehouse operations in West Sacramento, and standing as an agent for National Van Lines.
CMSA represents more than 300 licensed and insured movers and 150 associate member companies across the state. One hundred eight years of history. Six women in the chair. And now, for the first time, an immigrant Latina leading the way.
We told Griselda's full story a few weeks ago, from El Salvador, to Daly City, to the boardroom. This is the next chapter. And it's the kind of chapter that changes what the next 108 years can look like for the people coming up behind her.

P.S. — Moving soon? We know someone reliable. 📦 CG Moving Company is run by the woman now leading California's entire moving industry. That's not a coincidence — that's standards. Every move is an act of solidarity.
She built it. She leads it. She shows up. #ThisIsTheSVLWay
Stories like this don't tell themselves.
SVL has spent over a decade making the invisible visible — celebrating Latino excellence, naming hard truths, and calling our comunidad to action. Independent Latino journalism only survives when the community it serves decides it's worth protecting.

Sophia Chavez, Latina graphic designer and LMU senior, grew up watching her community's cultura get celebrated while the people behind it stayed invisible. She didn't look away. She built her thesis around it. SVL has told this story before — Carlos Perez drew the original Apple logo by hand and the world consumed it billions of times without ever knowing his name. Now we tell Sophia's. Silicon Valley Latino celebrates her as our newest Collegiate Cultura Ambassador.
Most people in the moving industry move things. Griselda Gonzalez moves industries. This month, May 2026, she becomes Chair of the Board of the California Moving and Storage Association — the sixth woman and the first immigrant Latina to hold the position in its more than 100-year history.
Angela Flores Robertson didn't wait for permission. A first-gen Latina, SVL Cultura Ambassador, and Advisory Board member — she builds the table and makes sure every seat is filled.
