Angel Chavez - SVL Advisory Board Member

We are excited to announce that Angel Chavez has accepted to become part of our stellar Advisory Board.  We welcome him and look forward to his guidance and advice as we continue to grow.

Angel has been advising families and corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area about their finances for nearly 25 years. He is passionate about helping people successfully navigate the complexities they face in their financial lives through personalized coaching and guidance. Angel grew up in San Francisco with his grandmother, who instilled in him the value of hard work, a strong education, and giving back to his community at a very young age. These core values are the foundation of Angel’s practice today and serve as constant reminder of the struggles and the tenacity it takes to be successful.

A portfolio manager by trade, Angel was the chief operating officer of a successful technology start-up prior to venturing into the world of finance. He is a life-long learner, earning his undergraduate degree in International Finance from SF State University, his MBA from Golden Gate University, and completing executive development course work at Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.

Throughout his career, Angel has remained committed to professional development, earning important designations at Morgan Stanley, including Corporate Client Group Director and Family Wealth Director, a certification received by less than two percent of the advisors at Morgan Stanley. He has also undertaken various advanced courses of study, earning his Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) and Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC)) designations. These credentials demonstrate Angel’s unrelenting commitment to a world-class client experience. He draws upon his deep knowledge to provide clients with tailored advice, with a specific focus on families, tech executives and business owners.

In his spare time, Angel actively competes in Obstacle Course Racing and has completed 16 Spartan Races and 3 Tough Mudders the past few years. He also coaches CYO Cross Country and Volleyball and in the past year he coached several young Latinos to attain their Spartan Trifectas. He truly loves having outdoor adventures with the support and participation of his wife and two children.

Angel is also passionate about giving back – at his firm and within his community. He is a proud member of Morgan Stanley’s National Diversity and Inclusion Council, where he advocates for a more inclusive work environment for his colleagues and clients.

Angel served on the Board of the Latino Community Foundation, Juma Ventures, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and is currently the Treasurer of the San Leandro Swim Team and a mentor for business owners at the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Initiative. In 2015, he founded the Latino Men’s Giving Circle to address the persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color. His goal is to partner with other organizations to inspire youth to pursue studies focused on Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM).
