Cheyenne Mungaray - Silicon Valley Latino’s Academic Honoree 2018

We are delighted to publish this update on one of Silicon Valley Latino’s Academic Honorees from the College Declaration Day Class 2018.

Cheyenne Mungaray recently graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. A first-generation college student originally from Morgan Hill, California, Cheyenne graduated in three years with cum laude honors. She plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate in a couple of years after gaining some work experience in a related field.

Throughout her time at TCU, Cheyenne was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, serving as the Associate Panhellenic Delegate for a semester. As Associate Panhellenic Delegate, she represented her chapter at weekly meetings to help communicate what was taking place in her chapter to other Panhellenic organizations. Cheyenne also served as a student tour guide and Admissions Intern, where she gave weekly tours to admitted and prospective students from across the country. She also sat on virtual panels with admitted students from Northern California to share her experience at TCU with them. Cheyenne was also a member of pre-law society, an organization that helped prepare students for law school with LSAT prep, networking events, and organizing law school panels.

Last semester, she had the opportunity to intern with Student Veterans of America, a non-profit organization serving student veterans in Washington D.C. While the internship was meant to be in person in D.C., she worked remotely as a result of COVID-19 from her home in California. During her internship, Cheyenne coordinated the first ever virtual Hill Day event for the organization with over 20 Congressional offices participating. She and her colleagues lobbied for a number of issues relating to veterans and higher education, including closing the 90-10 loophole. She also wrote a piece on veteran suicide prevention and mental health services, an issue that she is very passionate about.

All of her life, Cheyenne has been an avid sports fan, watching her favorite teams- the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and San Jose Sharks- with her family. She regularly keeps up with all MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL teams.. Because of this, Cheyenne hopes to one day work as counsel for a sports organization within the MLB, NFL, or NBA or work as a sports agent.

Cheyenne is currently looking for employment opportunities and we are going to ask our community of Cultura Ambassadors and audiences to help her find her first professional role. You may contact her at https://www.linkedin.com/in/cheyenne-mungaray/ or cheyenne.mungaray@gmail.com.
